FATAL FLAWS INVALIDATE BC HYDRO’S SITE C BUSINESS CASE
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Members of the media and the public are invited to attend a one-hour briefing hosted by the PVLA to hear respected energy economist Robert McCullough and others outline fatal flaws in the business case for the $8.8 billion Site C Dam, including:
Contrary to Energy and Mines Minister Bill Bennett, Site C is likely double the cost of other energy options
BC Hydro’s financial analysis is skewed to favour Site C over alternatives
Contrary to BC Hydro statements, a 2 year delay to Site C will save ratepayers $200 million
The Site C final investment decision ignores critical new information on geothermal energy
Contrary to Finance Minister Mike de Jong’s statements, Site C is not a green project
Robert McCullough’s testimony in front of the U.S. Senate Energy Committee is credited with initiating the Enron trading investigations.
